Syria says it will Use Chemical Weapons: opposition and Israeli's ready to protect them

Syria has threatened to use deadly chemical or biological weapons if it is attacked by outside forces

The Free Syrian Army believes that the Assad regime has moved chemical weapons to airports near the country's borders, in what the rebels say is a bid to put "pressure on the region and the international community," according to the Telegraph. Remember Assad says he will only use the chemical weapons on foreign agents and People take that as soothing but remember he thinks foriegn terrorists is doing this to him and are behind the protesters.

Defector: Syria Ready To Use Chemical Weapons: A senior Syrian military defector has said President Bashar al Assad's forces are set to use chemical weapons to "perpetrate a sea of blood". General Mustafa Sheikh, who fled the army in January, said regime forces wanted to "burn the country". "The regime has started moving its chemical stockpile and redistributing it to prepare for its use," he said in an interview with the Reuters news agency.

"They are moving it from warehouses to new locations. They want to burn the country. The regime cannot fall without perpetrating a sea of blood." Western and Israeli officials, concerned that chemical stockpiles could fall into the hands of militants, said a week ago that Syria appeared to be shifting weapons from storage sites. However it was not clear whether the operation was a security precaution or a preparation for deployment. "The coming phase will witness a phase of bloodshed that is unprecedented and the regime will resort to non-conventional weapons. Every action will trigger a bigger reaction."

The United States is closely monitoring Syria's chemical weapons stockpile and is "actively consulting" Damascus's neighbors to stress concerns over the security of those weapons and Syria's responsibility to safeguard them, the White House said on Saturday. "We believe Syria's chemical weapons stockpile remains under Syrian government control," White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said. "Given the escalation of violence in Syria and the regime's increasing attacks on their people, we remain very concerned about these weapons."

That was the White House response to a question about a Syrian military defector's claim that Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces were moving chemical weapons across the country for possible use against the opposition in a military retaliation for the killing of four top security officials. The Free Syrian Army is forming a team to secure the country's chemical weapons, an FSA general told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday.

Amid the continuing violence, there were reports that two more Syrian generals have crossed the border into Turkey. Video footage of one of them, Brigadier General Adelnasser Ferzat, showed him speaking in fluent Russian - perhaps under duress - directly to the Russian government, calling on them to stop supporting Mr Assads's regime.

"We ask you, both the authorities and the people, to stand up for our freedom and right cause, for our will," he says in the video. Another senior military defector has claimed Mr Assad's forces are set to use chemical weapons to "perpetrate a sea of blood". General Mustafa Sheikh, who fled the army in January, said regime forces wanted to "burn the country". "The regime has started moving its chemical stockpile and redistributing it to prepare for its use," he said.

Israel fears Syria may hand chemical weapons to Hezbollah, May act to stop Syria arms reaching Hezbollah: Israel said on Friday it would consider military action if needed to ensure Syrian missiles or chemical weapons did not reach President Bashar al-Assad's allies in Lebanon, the Shi'ite Islamist movement Hezbollah.

"I have instructed the military to increase its intelligence preparations and prepare what is needed so that ... (if necessary) ... we will be able to consider carrying out an operation," Defence Minister Ehud Barak said in an interview on Channel 10 television. "We are following ... the possible transfer of advanced munitions systems, mainly anti-aircraft missiles or heavy ground-to-ground missiles, but there could also be a possibility of the transfer of chemical means (weapons) from Syria to Lebanon," said Barak.

Syrian opposition ready to secure chemical weapons': The Free Syrian Army is forming a team to secure the country's chemical weapons, an FSA general told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday. According to the report, the rebel general was once in charge of drafting plans to secure the same sites in his previous role as a general in Syrian President Bashar Assad's army. He came out of retirement to join the opposition earlier this year. "We have a group just to deal with chemical weapons," General Adnan Silou told the Telegraph.

I like much of the world am long convinced that Assad is a mad man. If he is still alive he is getting beyond increasingly desperate. At the very least he will use them on the opposition and in the process sacrifice many of his own supporters.

Syria is largely thought to have the largest stockpile of chemical weapons in the world and the most extensive and deadliest. Yes they are moving them around supposedly to protect them but I would not count on that. One of the General's now in the opposition is making a plan to secure them. Under Assad he was in control of them so he knows where they all are.

Not just that but you know Israel is monitoring their movement and knows where they are. They will do anything to keep them out of the hands of Hezbollah who absolutely would use them on Israel.

Lastly do not discount Iran's ability to get her hands on them "clandestinely of course" and get them into the hands of anyone eager to use them on Israel. This is not a good situation in an already volatile predicament. Not with everyone involved there eager to gain the upper hand in influencing which way the new middle east order goes.

Aleppo will be the graveyard of the tanks" of the Syrian army

Syria Rebel Commander says Aleppo will be the Graveyard of Syrian tanks

Russia has doubts about Syria president's ability to hold on: "In daily consultations, Assad keeps telling us he is still very much in control," the official said. "We are trying to ascertain for ourselves whether the point of no return has been reached, and frankly we are not so sure either way anymore." The first sign that Russia is abandoning Assad would be a decision to evacuate its citizens, the official said, and that could soon be followed by the Syrian leader's departure.

On Saturday, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov denied that any asylum plans were being made, telling journalists, "We are not even thinking about it."
Russia's objections to the campaign to oust Assad have had little to do with loyalty to a longtime ally or unease over a loss of influence in the Middle East, analysts and officials said. Instead, the Kremlin fears what it sees as a broader pattern of the West using its political and military power to squeeze out leaders friendly to Moscow.

Aleppo, the latest battleground in Syria's 16-month uprising, will be the Syrian army's "graveyard," said Colonel Abdel Jabbar al-Oqaidi, the head of the rebels in the city. Despite the heat and fierce fighting a few hours earlier, the former colonel in President Bashar al-Assad's army appears relaxed and confident that his men will win the battle and bring down the regime. "Aleppo will be the graveyard of the tanks" of the Syrian army, Oqaidi declares after a day in which the rebels claimed to have destroyed "eight tanks and some armored vehicles and killed more than 100 soldiers." "We ask the West for a no-fly zone," he says in order to prevent aerial raids carried out by Assad's forces.

The rebels have so far managed to fend off the assault although the shelling by regime forces continued on Sunday. "We are ready to bring down this regime," He assures that the rebel Free Syrian Army will not withdraw, as it did in Damascus earlier this month, but that it will face the attack. We await the attack," he says, refusing to reveal how many rebels are fighting in Aleppo as these were "military secrets." He said his men were positioned across Aleppo, adding that regime troops faced obstacles when it comes to entering the city. "We are positioned throughout the city and we have arms to defend ourselves against helicopters," "We expect them to commit a very great slaughter, and we urge the international community to intervene to prevent these crimes," the colonel says. "The Syrian army wavers, it is collapsing. It stands for no specific cause,"

The tide seems to have changed against Assad but this is going to be a long dirty tough fight. The climax is building but I like much of the world am long convinced that Assad is a mad man. If he is still alive he is getting beyond increasingly desperate. At the very least he will use chemical weapons on his own people that he calls foreigners and terrorists and in the process sacrifice many of his own supporters.

This is not a good situation in an already volatile predicament. Not with everyone involved there eager to gain the upper hand in influencing which way the new middle east order goes.

Iran and Russia to top it off are not going to allow a western influenced Government take control of Syria. Russia is not going to give up Tartus or let go of her interests in Syria. This is onl the beginning of the fight to control the direction of the world in the 21st century. Worse is the question of which way China will go, with the US or with Russia?

Taliban admit they can not win in Afghanistan and must talk with outside forces

KABUL, Afghanistan - Dozens of men and women took to the streets of Kabul on Wednesday to protest the recent public slaying of an Afghan woman accused of adultery whose gruesome, execution-style killing was captured on video. The footage, which surfaced recently, shows the woman being shot multiple times about 10 days ago in Parwan province, north of the Afghan capital. The gunman was encouraged by people who stood nearby, smiling and cheering.

The people know the horror they are to exist under forever if they do not stand up and eliminate them.

Dozens of Afghan civilians die in bloody day: More Taliban success!

Taliban: 'We cannot win war in Afghanistan' A senior Taliban commander has said insurgency will not win the war in Afghanistan, conceding that the only way forward for the group is to settle with other political forces in the country.

The leadership knows the truth – that they cannot prevail over the power they confront," he said. "It would take some kind of divine intervention for the Taliban to win this war," “At least 70 per cent of the Taliban are angry at al-Qaeda. Our people consider AL-Qaeda to be a plague that was sent down to us by the heavens,”

US, Pakistan, Afghanistan Call on Taliban to Join Reconciliation

Bombs, clashes in Afghanistan kill 35 including seven NATO soldiers: A surge in Afghan and coalition forces during the past two years routed Taliban fighters from many of their strongholds in the south, but the insurgents stepped up their attacks this summer to take back key areas. The civilians, including women and children, were killed in a trio of blasts in Arghistan district, along Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.
KABUL -- At least 35 people, including seven NATO soldiers, were killed in a string of roadside bombs and clashes on Sunday, one of the most violent days in the country for months. A bomb killed six NATO troops in the east, the coalition said without elaborating, after an insurgent attack in the south killed one foreign soldier.Twenty-eight Afghan civilians and police were killed in southern Kandahar and Helmand provinces, officials said.On the same day, major donors in Tokyo pledged $16 billion in development aid for Afghanistan over the next four years as they try to prevent it from sliding back into chaos once most foreign troops have left by the end of 2014

US, Pakistan, Afghanistan Call on Taliban to Join Reconciliation: Foreign ministers from the United States, Afghanistan, and Pakistan met Sunday on the sidelines of an Afghan donor conference in Japan to discuss cross-border cooperation and security. They called on Taliban fighters to join Afghan reconciliation efforts.

In a joint statement following their talks, Afghan Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul, Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said al-Qaida's core leadership in the region has been decimated, reducing the threat to peace and security that led the international community to intervene in Afghanistan in 2001.

Remember just recently when angry Afghan's chopped off the ears of a Taliban who was trying to set a roadside bomb? Believe it or not despite all the recent setbacks to the contrary, now that Burhanuddin has taken over the talks with the Taliban and the people have finally started to stand up against them I feel very good about the future for the Afghan people Democracy or not.

Get the talks going full bore. I want us to get the hell out of Afghanistan like we should. If we are lucky enough to have that happen and I have my doubts, the people have a choice. They will still have their tribes but otherwise they have the choice of Mullah Omar who will kill them if they do not live the way he says or the corrupt drug dealer Hamid Karzai.

4th member of Syria's law makers defects amidst an increased crackdown, however?

Highlights: Syrian ambassador to Iraq joins revolt, urges military to turn on murderous Government, In a related development, a member of the Syrian parliament representing the city of Aleppo, Ikhlas al Badawi, Friday became the fourth member to defect. "I crossed the Turkish border and left this tyrannical regime because of the repression and savage torture to which it uses against a nation that calls for minimum rights," Unthinkable a month ago, it was the name of regime's former golden boy Brigadier General Manaf Tlass that was on delegate's lips yesterday as the fractured Syrian opposition met in Qatar to hash out plans for a transitional government.

Unthinkable a month ago, it was the name of regime's former golden boy Brigadier General Manaf Tlass that was on delegate's lips yesterday as the fractured Syrian opposition met in Qatar to hash out plans for a transitional government.

In his first interview since becoming the uprising's most high profile defector so far, the chiselled 48-year-old yesterday put himself forward as the man best placed to bring unity to the multitude of factions hoping to oust his former friend and confidante President Bashar al-Assad. "I left [Syria]… to try to help the best I can to unite the honourable people inside and outside Syria to set out a road map to get Syria out of this crisis," he told the Asharq Alawsat newspaper in Jeddah.

Syrian ambassador to Iraq joins revolt, urges military to turn on murderous Government- CNN: The defection of Nawaf al-Fares, Syria's ambassador to Iraq, follows the defection last week of a brigadier general in protest of the killing of his fellow Sunnis. Al-Fares is the highest-ranking diplomat so far to leave the regime. He also announced his defection from the ruling Baath party, becoming the most senior member to leave.

"To my brothers in the military, your military doctrine is to defend the homeland against external aggression and protect its borders," al-Fares said in a video statement taped in front of a Syrian opposition flag and given to the TV network Al Jazeera Arabic. "So did your fathers, sons, and sisters become the enemies now? And are they the ones who you should fight? Is that what you have learned in your military schools?" Photos: Massacre in Syria

Two more Syrian diplomats defect from Assad regime
Two more Syrian diplomats defect from Assad regime: The United States on Wednesday confirmed the defections of two more senior Syrian diplomats, describing this as further evidence that President Bashar al-Assad's days are "numbered." "We can confirm the defections of Syrian ambassadors to both the UAE and Cyprus," White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One.

Earlier, sources had told AFP the two envoys had defected from the regime. Carney said the move showed that "senior officials around the Assad inner circle are fleeing the government because of the heinous actions taken by Assad against his own people, and the recognition that Assad's days are numbered."

Clashes continue as Syrian MP defects: One week after the opening of this new front, the regime's special forces were deployed on the eastern flank of the city and other troops arrived to participated in a massive offensive, according to opposition sources. The United States said on Thursday it was fearing a massacre in Aleppo.

In a related development, a member of the Syrian parliament representing the city of Aleppo, Ikhlas al Badawi, Friday became the fourth member to defect. "I crossed the Turkish border and left this tyrannical regime because of the repression and savage torture to which it uses against a nation that calls for minimum rights," she told Sky News Arabia.

This brings the total of senior diplomats, "law makers" defecting so far to 4! In January, Imad Ghalioun, a member of the parliamentary budget committee, announced he was seeking refuge in Egypt, calling on the opposition to ensure the interest of the Syrian people "who want to achieve freedom". Badawi, a member of Assad's Baath party, is the first member of the parliament elected in May to renounce him, however.

Plus Even as state media reported the suicide attack in Damascus — a notion that would once have been unthinkable in decades of iron-fisted control by the Assad family — the country’s Russian-armed military was reported to have suffered further defections among its top ranks, with two brigadier generals among 600 Syrians who fled to Turkey overnight, Reuters reported.

Their action brought to 20 the number of such high-ranking figures, who include a onetime close associate of Mr. Assad, Gen. Manaf Tlass, the son of a former defense minister.

The tide seems to have changed against Assad but this is going to be a long dirty tough fight. The climax is building but I like much of the world am long convinced that Assad is a mad man. Shanghai Cooperation Organization calls for nuclear-weapon-free zone for space. What a joke!

Shanghai Cooperation Organization calls for nuclear-weapon-free zone, space security because they think they are prepared to dominate the coming space war. This is not a new concept actually but one touted by Russia China and the United States as each clandestinely or so they think, prepares to dominate the others in a space war.

SCO calls for nuclear-weapon-free zone, space security: Member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) called for the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in central Asia in a declaration released after the conclusion of the group's Beijing summit on Thursday.

All member states stand for ensuring outer space security, peaceful use of outer space and prevention the weaponization of outer space, said declaration of the heads of state of the member states of the SCO. Member states will work to build a peaceful, secure, fair and open information space, on the basis of the principles of respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, according to the declaration.

That space war China and Russia didn't want is well on its way and will not be good for the U.S. You know without our satellite security Veil our entire military and intelligence system is absolutely worthless. "dead in the water".

Why should we care? Knowing China has been endeavoring in secret for 10 to 20 years for the ability to take down our Satellite system. China and Russia's combined ability in the area of satellite destruction can not be ignored.

A couple years back as worldwide attention focused on China’s first successful anti-satellite missile test, U.S. officials were questioning why some Chinese spacecraft are in orbits that bring them close to key U.S. satellites, according to military sources.

The big question is the scale and progress of the Chinese anti-satellite program, including whether the Chinese spacecraft are benign or time bombs that can someday be used to threaten the space assets on which the U.S. military and economy depend for everything from reconnaissance and dropping bombs to logistics, communications and navigation.

The Chinese spacecraft don't appear to be conducting any particular mission. Rather, "there is a menu of missions that could be performed that we are not yet clear about," said one source.

From what I understand, China has been attempting to develop anti satellite capabilities for some 20 odd years in response to our growing dominance of space and in a desire to counter our overwhelming military satellite superiority.

That destruction of a Chinese satellite by one of there missiles despite China saying it was innocent was anything but and was a direct warning and shot across our bow.

I hope we are all concerned that this is just a small sign that there is in fact a space war that now includes the U.S. on one side and China and Russia on the other. In light of what is preparing to happen. You should be very concerned. By international convention, a physical attack on a nation’s satellites is considered an act of war.

To date to my knowledge there has been no physical attack but the U.S. is expressing concern as to why China's satellites are simply hovering so close to ours? One air force program has as its public mission a desire to demonstrate the ability to maneuver on orbit and autonomously rendezvous with orbiting satellites. Critics say that such a maneuverable spacecraft could be used to ram enemy spacecraft or attack them with weapons.

A report that I posted once may have been missed as it was a small part of a larger story I will repost as part of this story, to show we are lagging behind and China has already in possession of this capability. We know that China has been for at least 10 years been developing anti satellite weapons that have to be deployed covertly so that in a crisis with America, China can shoot down some satellites as a deterrent message. You know damn well we have been doing the same thing preparing for that space war neither side wants.

You know it just kills me because both sides deny weaponizing space but neither side will talk about it. Air Force times

I do understand that knocking out big pieces of our defense system is said to be difficult but in light of the following report I think it is possible and we better reevaluate what is getting ready to happen.

From what I believe this entire unfolding war scenario boils down to who has the best C4ISR (command, control, communications, computers Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance). Neutralizing C4ISR is like cutting off the head of a chicken. It can run around in circles for a while, but will soon collapse and die. The same is true in warfare.

Having the mightiest and most modern armed forces in the world, America prides itself with having the most sophisticated and advanced C4ISR. US military spy satellites can gather intelligence data and disseminate it on a real time basis. US surveillance and reconnaissance satellites are so sophisticated that their sensors can detect objects on Earth as small as one-tenth of a meter in size, from several hundred miles up. Satellite sensors can also penetrate clouds and bad weather or see in the night. Some of these spy satellites can also monitor radio or telephone conversations.

Aside from communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, satellites are also used for navigation, most especially in guiding ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft and other smart weapon systems to their targets. Without satellite guidance, such "smart" and precision weapons turn into "dumb" bombs and directionless missiles.

The advances in C4ISR are rapidly revolutionizing warfare. Gathering, processing, disseminating, and acting on intelligence is now made possible on a real-time or near real-time basis on a global or regional level. Because of these developments, a new war principle is emerging in the modern battlefield: "If the enemy sees you; you are dead."

We are supposed to be far superior to China in our C4ISR capabilities, myself I wouldn't bank on it. China can't hope to catch up to us anytime soon so they have been concentrating their efforts on methods of destroying our aircraft carrier battle groups and most of our weapons systems as well as our communication systems.

For more than two decades they have been busy developing anti-satellite weapons. They have been developing maneuverable nano-satellites that can neutralize other satellites. They do their work by maneuvering near a target satellite and neutralizing the target by electronic jamming, electro-magnetic pulse generation, clinging to the target and physically destroying it, bumping the target out of orbit, or simply exploding to bring the target satellite down with it. I would be very concerned with this especially since I am sure they have been getting help from their military partner Russia.

If all else fails China can attempt to blind our satellites with land based laser systems but then so couldn't we. If worse comes to worst, China can always use its weapon of last resort, destroying adversary satellites with a high-altitude nuclear burst but again so couldn't we. At any rate this is a hell of a mess preparing to unfold and if America's C4ISR was compromised as seems possible America would be brought to its knees. All of this will be done in our environment we are supposedly concerned about as it is severely compromised already. What is wrong with man? We are seemingly preparing to commit Hari Kari in the name of national interest?
5 years ago the U.S. expressly ignored Chinese and Russian calls for a global ban on the development of space weapons.

in the request China calls their satellite shoot down a weapon of peace

Instead, a new policy preserved America's right to develop military space technology, while "dissuading" others. As in every friggen instance it is okay for us to do what we want because we want to dominate but not for anyone else. The ability to use space is vital to U.S. national security, economic and foreign policy interests and we will fight to keep China from creating an even playing field.

Remember when the US and Russian satellites collided above Siberia? US warns of space "dodge ball" after satellite crash

Concern of a space war Russia, China, and the US say they do not want but are all prepared for has long been a concern of mine for a long time for a few reasons. Have you ever heard of Assassins Mace

China's satellites shadowing ours, and now you know Why

How about HAARP Well researched for over 90 years at a cost of many millions! A New York Times story, dated December 8, 1915, describes one of Tesla's more well-known patents, a transmitter that would "project electrical energy in any amount to any distance and apply it for innumerable purposes, both in war and peace."

We know how critical controlling Satellites is to us and our military along with those of our friends and adversaries. that disruption really made me think of how fragile our ability to communicate is. I have said many times that whoever controls space controls the future. Without satellites the worlds militaries are dead in the water, sitting ducks waiting to be picked off!

I am not saying I am concerned that these two satellites colliding was anything more than an "accident" I will wait and see what if anything leaks out but it makes me curios know this happened above Siberia? A Russian and US satellite? What are the chances of 2 satellites colliding and destroying each other? This was a first but... I used to be concerned about the possibility of a space war because whoever owns space owns the battlefield thus the future,

Today's militaries are totally controlled by satellites. No satellites no air Force nukes, nothing. Aircraft carriers and entire navy's would be dead in the water. As I said I have long been concerned of a space war for that reason and because of the resultant millions of pieces of space debris! We would no longer be able to use space, we would be trapped on earth

This collision accidental or not gives me hope. If one collision causes concern as to dodging space junk I have to believe we will more than make every effort to refrain from trapping us on earth.

Mans future: sadly It is in our hands and man can't manage anything. If we have the space war no one supposedly wants but we are prepared for we are all stuck here. HAARP has been in progress for a century, do you remember when a couple years back the entire middle east went dead except for the US and Iraq? That was no accident.

Remember when a Russian and US satellite bumped into each other over Russia. That was no accident either. Read Assassins mace,it is in the link above, not good!

Also remember around 2 years ago when China took down her own satellite to see if they can? Well Russia, China, and the US can and much worse. Just the other day a tiny piece of that junk had us afraid the space station was going to be hit and they were preparing for it.

In a nut shell if they have a space war and destroy each others satellites we are all stuck on mother earth that they are destroying.

So much is made of oil and weapons but whoever owns space owns the future. Take out the satellites and aircraft carriers are dead in the water like the rest of the navy and entire modern military. "the best laid plans of men and mice" All we can do is shake our heads and go for the ride because we do not matter!

As we follow the path of the Roman Empire it will all get worse as it is and those who can pilfer the ship as they are before it sinks as they are every day and we can just watch. What a future huh? AAARRRGGGHHH! Nostradamus gave us two paths into the future, one to peace and prosperity and one to total war and devastation. We are bent on taking the latter.

Clashes so fierce in Aleppo and morale so low troops running away and defecting on the spot

Syria: Troops and rebels reinforce for big Aleppo battle: Syrian rebels have stepped up their stockpiling of ammunition and medical supplies in preparation for a major battle in Aleppo, a BBC reporter says. The rebels, who are in control large parts of Syria's second city, have set up checkpoints and sniper positions. Activists say columns of government troops and tanks are heading towards the city from other areas. Aleppo is the country's commercial capital, and is key to the battle to control the north of the country. Street battles have been reported throughout Aleppo for almost a week, as rebels try to hold on to seized neighborhoods.

:A "large number" of troops have been moved from the northwestern province of Idlib to join the fighting in Aleppo, a rebel spokesman told AFP via Skype. Free Syrian Army Colonel Abdel Jabbar al-Oqaidi said he believed the reinforcements were being sent because of the intensity of clashes in Aleppo, where several districts were "liberated" on Monday. "There are clashes right now in Aleppo, so fierce that many of their troops are running away, while dozens of others are defecting on the spot," Oqaidi said. "Their morale is very low."
The increased firepower has helped the rebels successfully attack armored vehicles and force some Syrian forces to take resupply by helicopter. The rebels have also been able to establish growing enclaves in northern Syria and from there try to seize a number of key border crossings. Watson said in the village he was in that hundreds of rebels loaded up with ammunition Monday night and headed to fight in Aleppo.
Syria crisis: battles in Damascus and Aleppo - live updates: • The European Union has agreed to strengthen its arms embargo and increase sanctions again against the Assad regime, Reuters reports. Speaking after a meeting of foreign minister EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said: These sanctions are important because they will allow ships to be examined to see what cargo they're carrying, and that will prevent, I hope, any arms reaching Syria.
 • Israel has confirmed that its leaders have discussed with US officials how to manage a Syrian government collapse, AP reports. An official said: "You can presume that these sorts of issues came up with American officials when they visited recently in Israel."

 • UN blogger Nabil Abi Saab, claims the Arab League's decision to change Kofi Annan's mission in Syria (see 9.10am) represents the end of the joint envoy's mission. 9.47am: Rebel troops have been filmed capturing a government tank in the Shakour district of Aleppo.

The climax is building but I like much of the world am long convinced that Assad is a mad man. If he is still alive he is getting beyond increasingly desperate. At the very least he will use chemical weapons on his own people that he calls foreigners and terrorists and in the process sacrifice many of his own supporters.

U.S. declares drought-stricken states largest natural disaster area ever: The United States Department of Agriculture has declared natural disaster areas in more than 1,000 counties and 26 drought-stricken states, making it the largest natural disaster in America ever.[Also read: First half of year hottest ever] According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, more than half the country (56 percent) experienced drought conditions—the largest percentage in the 12-year history of the service.

And according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the period from January through June was "the warmest first half of any year on record for the contiguous United States." The average temperature was 52.9 degrees Fahrenheit, or 4.5 degrees above average, NOAA said on Monday. Twenty-eight states east of the Rockies set temperature records for the six-month period. A heat wave blistered most of the United States in June, with more than 170 all-time temperature records broken or tied during the month. On June 28 in Norton, Kan., for instance, the temperature reached 118 degrees, an all-time high. On June 26, Red Willow, Neb., set a temperature record of 115 degrees, eclipsing the 114-degree mark set in 1932.

Recent Natural Disasters: Natural Disaster Relief - Hurricanes | Flooding | Earthquakes | Tsunamis | Mudslides | Tornadoes | Fires | Volcanoes | Oil Spills: natural and man made disasters and relief organizations

In 2007 experts said the environment was our biggest security threat. I am sure you will agree it gets worse every year and will get much worse. The planet is in the final stage of its life known as the nurturing stage and we do not take care of it. Instead we worsen our own situation and besides a kaleidoscope of horrific man made disasters including numerous little wars. we are preparing to worsen our situation exponentially with another world war.

* The Nurturing Stage – This is supposedly man's mature stage. This is mans preservation period. The time is now. This period marks mans awakening as to the realization of mans negative impact on the life sustaining life cycle of the planet as a whole. This period marks the awakening of man as to the as to the necessity of revitalizing Natures life sustaining ecosystems.

This period marks the necessity for an end to all out war. We must come to the realization that as a world we must destroy all advanced weaponry and their systems throughout the world. This is an absolute necessity for the survival of man and the planet. We must form a world board to ensure compliance by the entire world. It is for the benefit and survival of mankind and the planet. We now know the fragility of our planet and our negative role in it. As a world we must act responsibly, be held accountable, and act accordingly.

** Man has taken his ability to live and learn, an ability that has sustained and nurtured him for thousand of years and forgotten he ever had it. It had served us well throughout are creativity. Through the beginning of the 20th century man has been going through the maturity stages of his existence. Like a maturing teenager man now thinks he has all the answers. However he has none of the right ones.

Would you send your Grandmother off to war? That is something you can relate to. Likewise man and the planet can not survive a world war this late in the life cycle of man and the planet. Whoever ushers in a new world war must be held personally accountable for knowingly and unwittingly bring about the end of the civilized world and our planet.

China will not sign the South China Sea code of conduct? (+video)

Asean Summit Breaks Down Over South China Sea Disputes, Philippines says China warship is in its territory, a military aircraft spotted six other Chinese ships near the stricken vessel on Saturday. Japan's plan to buy the disputed Tiaoyutai island group provoked a Chinese live ammunition exercise. China will not sign the South China Sea code of conduct. China, Japan Face Off Near Disputed Islands. China, US seek to calm South China Sea tensions. Plus a recap of what led us to this point if need. If something interests you in this very long and convoluted issue just click on the link and read further!

Asean Summit Breaks Down Over South China Sea Disputes: China's efforts to assert its claims to the disputed South China Sea got a boost as regional talks to resolve the issue broke down despite U.S. support, even as Beijing made fresh moves that underscore its increasing presence in the region.A summit of foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, ended Friday amid tense disagreements over how to address territorial claims in the sea, which is claimed by China and in part by the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and Brunei.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who attended the talks, had pressed for discussion of a multinational agreement to ease tensions—a move opposed by China, which prefers to negotiate with each nation separately. But Southeast Asian nations argued over how hard to press the Chinese, with countries such as Cambodia resisting any steps that would embarrass China, and the Philippines.

Philippines says China warship is in its territory: The Philippines says a Chinese warship entered an area it claims in the South China Sea and ran aground on a shoal, as tensions continue between the two countries over a separate territorial dispute. Foreign affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said Saturday that Manila wants Beijing to explain why the Chinese frigate became stuck on Half Moon Shoal, about 110 kilometers (70 miles) from the western province of Palawan.

"We need to find out what really happened with the Chinese frigate in our territory," Hernandez said. He said the Philippine Embassy in Beijing has been instructed to inform China's Foreign Ministry that Manila is "willing to help the frigate get out of there." Defense department spokesman Peter Paul Galvez said a military aircraft spotted six other Chinese ships near the stricken vessel on Saturday.
You know China ran that ship aground on purpose to have ab excuse to have a presence there and to keep their military ships there. You know damn well they will not accept the Philippine's help.

Japan's plan to buy the disputed Tiaoyutai island group provoked a Chinese live ammunition exercise

China, US seek to calm South China Sea tensions: The United States and China signaled a willingness on Thursday to work together on "sensitive issues" in a move to cool tensions between rival claimants to the potentially oil-rich and increasingly militarized South China Sea.

Long-simmering tensions in the waters have entered a more contentious chapter this year as the six parties who claim the territory search deeper into the disputed waters for energy supplies while building up their navies and defense alliances. Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Beijing was ready to work with Washington "to expand our common ground, respect each other, properly handle differences on sensitive issues, and push forward" relations.

Why won't China sign the South China Sea code of conduct? (+video) The agreement, raised at the Association of South East Asian Nations in Cambodia, would be the 10th covering essentially the same territorial dispute since the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The idea is that it would spell out what ships should do to avoid a clash but it wouldn't actually spell out how to resolve competing claims, according to regional news media.

Japan's plan to buy the disputed Tiaoyutai island group in the East China Sea has provoked a Chinese announcement that it will stage a maritime live ammunition exercise July 10-15, according to local media reports. In Taiwan, President Ma Ying-jeou said Saturday that there will be no concessions on the nation's sovereignty over the Tiaoyutai islands.

After Japan announced plans to purchase the island chain from its private owners by the end of the year, local media said this means Japan is trying to "nationalize" the disputed territory. The island group, some 100 nautical miles northeast of Taiwan, is known as the Senkaku islands in Japan and as the Diaoyutai islands in China, both of which claim sovereignty over the uninhabited islands. Taiwan also claims sovereignty over the islands, and has deployed coast guard boats to protect its fishermen operating in the area.

China, Japan Face Off Near Disputed Islands: Following days of hostile rhetoric since Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said his government was considering purchasing the islands, now privately owned, the face off fueled concerns that the island row will strain the burgeoning economic ties between the two Asian powers. Spokesmen from the two governments offered sharp words following Wednesday's incident, each emphasizing sovereignty over the islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China.

"It is very clear that the Senkaku Islands are Japan's inherent territory both from historical and legal perspectives," Japan's chief cabinet secretary, Osamu Fujimura, said. "And in reality, Japan effectively controls them." At a daily briefing in Beijing, Chinese government spokesman Liu Weimin said, "The Diaoyu island and its affiliated islets have been China's inherent territory since ancient times…China does not accept Japanese representations over it."

This is just one more confrontation you can only see ending in war rather than Diplomacy and sharing the wealth!

The long run up to the China sea's conflict and the US and allies verse Russia and China competing naval muscle flexing I mean exercises

Being in a superior position puts one in a unique position of power and that power must be handled gracefully, with humility, responsibly, and not abused. That is something I taught all my sons and America under Bush did a lousy job of handling. I am a little worried that China too is getting a little too heavy handed and abusive with her new position of power and beginning to take what she wants instead of being content with what she has which is what I constantly lecture has to be the case if we are to have a future. The time when man and the planet could handle war and colonialism is over, period or else!

We are Taiwan's, Vietnam's, Australia's, and Japan's protectors. As China flex's their military muscles in the area we are not supposed to worry. Just what are we supposed to think they are going to do with their advanced weaponry, missiles, stealth aircraft, aircraft carriers and the like. Their threats are going to become more ominous until they cannot be ignored and it is too late. We have been here before. The world was not supposed to worry as Hitler built his arsenal and we know how that turned out.

Navy commando Mother ship to Gulf of Hormuz to thwart Iran

Navy commando mother ship heading to the Gulf

US sends floating base for special forces to Gulf to thwart Iran: US officials have revealed that a military build-up in the Gulf region includes the deployment of warships, F-22 stealth fighter jets and a new amphibious base to launch special forces attacks. Officials told the New York Times newspaper that Washington would view any attempt by Iran to close the Strait of Hormuz as a "red line" triggering a US military reaction.

"The message to Iran is, 'Don't even think about it,'" the daily quoted a senior Defense Department official as saying on condition of anonymity. "Don't even think about closing the strait. We'll clear the mines. Don't even think about sending your fast boats out to harass our vessels or commercial shipping. We'll put them on the bottom of the Gulf." The US Navy has doubled the number of minesweepers in the area to eight as well as sending the amphibious landing craft.

Iran says test-fires missiles over threats of attack: Iran's official English-language Press TV said the Shahab 3 missile with a range of 1,300 km (800 miles) - able to reach Israel - was tested along with the shorter-range Shahab 1 and 2 and other missile classes.

"The main aim of this drill is to demonstrate the Iranian nation's political resolve to defend vital values and national interests," Revolutionary Guards Deputy Commander Hossein Salami was quoted by Press TV as saying. He said the tests were in response to Iran's enemies who talk of a "military option being on the table".
That also means Iran is theoretically able to reach US bases and interests in the area.

Navy wants commando 'mothership' in Middle East to support rail guns and Lasers
Navy wants commando 'mothership' in Middle East: The Pentagon is rushing to send a large floating base for commando teams to the Middle East as tensions rise with Iran, al-Qaeda in Yemen and Somali pirates, among other threats. In response to requests from U.S. Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, the Navy is converting an aging warship it had planned to decommission into a makeshift staging base for the commandos.

Unofficially dubbed a “mothership,” the floating base could accommodate smaller high-speed boats and helicopters commonly used by Navy SEALs, procurement documents show. Navy documents indicate that it could be headed to the Persian Gulf, where Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz. The deployment of the floating base could also mark a return to maritime missions for SEAL teams, which for the past decade have spent most of their time on land in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tehran's hollow Hormuz strait threat: The Islamic Republic’s goal may still be more financial than military. Iran’s economy is teetering. In the past nine months, Iran’s currency has lost a third of its value against the dollar. Unemployment and inflation are both in the double digits. To keep afloat, Iran needs high oil prices. Should the price of oil fall below $80 per barrel, even the brutal Revolutionary Guards may not be able to maintain domestic stability for long. They know that by simply threatening tanker traffic, they can drive up the price of oil, adding hundreds of millions of dollars to their coffers. You know they are concern number one!

First I must say by now we are all use to middle eastern nation's threatening their perceived enemy with burning hell on earth whether they can bring it or not. Saddam Hussein did it with WMD to keep Iran at bay. Iran right now is doing it to the west to keep us and increased sanctions at bay. It will not work and we are already prepared for them.

Any military action will be to Iran's demise and she knows it. Iran makes 80% of her revenue from the gulf and the strait of Hormuz. First Iran can not shut down the Strait and any attempt would shut down Iran.

In an undated photo supplied by Lockheed Martin, an Aegis-equipped destroyer launches a missile, using hit-to-kill technology to intercept and destroy short- and medium-range ballistic missiles.

The US Navy recently performed its first test of its new HEL system, destroying a small boat in a matter of moments. We've got the video above. The Navy has begun field testing early versions of its high-energy laser (HEL).

This concept of fighting with rail guns that fire non explosive projectiles at supersonic speeds to put holes in ships 100 miles away and destroy their munitions at the same time and firing lasers to destroy the engines of small boats to disable them is at first glance a concept strange and hard to comprehend in an environment of today's high tech weapons.

However make no mistake, these weapons are very high tech, still under design, and geared towards an enemy and location we will be facing in the future. It is no coincidence that these weapons were tested at the same time the military tested its most challenging test yet of its ballistic missile defense system, blasting an incoming target out of the skies over the Pacific Ocean. The US started outfitting all military vessels in the Gulf earlier this year

Don't forget the billions in advanced weaponry given to Israel as a "counter balance" Also the 70 Billion in advanced arms give to our so called middle east allies to defend against Iran.

It is only a matter of time before we at the very least have a "confrontation" with Iran. I always figured it would come from the Gulf as Gates said the navy as of yet is not over extended. their primary navy weapon seems for now to be those high powered boats. We seem to be building a defense and offense capable of handling a confrontation with Iran and the IRG. I find that troubling but it is worsened because we are getting ourselves into a war with our 3rd Muslim Nation we do not need this but we are prepared. Iran be careful what you ask for because you "will" get it.

Hamid Karzai says Taliban chief Mullah Omar can run for Afghan presidency:

Hamid Karzai says Taliban chief Mullah Omar can run for Afghan presidency: Mullah Omar, the one-eyed Taliban leader who has been on run since the United States toppled his regime in late 2001, is one of the world's most wanted men and is leading a Taliban insurgency aimed at ousting Karzai. Karzai has repeatedly called on Omar and other insurgents fighting against his administration to renounce violence and accept peaceful reintegration. "I repeat my call on all Afghans, those who aren't the puppets of others and have (only) issues with us at home – they're welcome for any talks," he told a news conference.

"Mullah Mohammad Omar can come inside Afghanistan anywhere he wants to. He can open political office for himself but he should leave the gun. "He along with his friends can come and create his political party, do politics, become a candidate himself for the elections. If people voted for him, good for him, he can take the leadership in his hand," Karzai said

What is Omar going to do kill everyone that doesn't vote for him? Anyway you look at it the Taliban are indigenous to Afghanistan and are going no where. When we leave if we do they are instantly going to claim what they want. At this point in my mind they should be allowed to claim certain parts of Afghanistan such as Helmand province as their territory and be allowed to live as they want there as long as they leave the rest of the country alone.

Also remember the people just recently cut off the ears of a man who was setting IED's near their town? The people know the horror they are to exist under forever if they do not stand up and eliminate them or give them their own section of the country to keep their barbaric laws as they see fit. All they have to do is stay there and keep their barbaric laws to themselves.

The Taliban are indigenous to Afghanistan and are going no where. If Mullah Omar is smart enough not to run for President give him his own principality there. When we leave if we do they are instantly going to claim what they want anyway. At this point in my mind they should be allowed to claim certain parts of Afghanistan such as Helmand province as their territory and be allowed to live as they want there as long as they leave the rest of the country alone.

The people know the horror they are to exist under forever if they do not stand up and eliminate them or give them their own section of the country to keep their barbaric laws as they see fit. All they have to do is stay there and keep their barbaric laws to themselves.

Putin putdown: Russia will not be pushed around any more

Russian Navy ships from three Russian fleets also are now steaming toward Syria’s coast

Russia Sends Warships to Mediterranean: A flotilla of Russian Navy ships set sail Tuesday for the Mediterranean, where Russia maintains a small base at Tartus, Syria. A destroyer and three landing ships left the Arctic port of Severomorsk. A second destroyer left Russia’s base at Sevastopol, Ukraine. And Interfax reported that more warships from the Baltic Fleet, based in St. Petersburg, are preparing to join the flotilla.

The warships set sail the day after Russia’s President Vladimir Putin accused the West of “missile bomb democracy.” With Russian Navy ships from three Russian fleets now steaming toward Syria’s coast, the Kremlin seems to be sending a clear signal that it will stand by Assad.

Russian Autumn: Say what you will about Vladimir Putin, he is putting on a clinic for fellow dictators in how to put down an incipient democratic rebellion. Since he began his third term as Russian President in May, the Kremlin has raided the homes of opposition leaders, threatened criminal probes, and proposed legislation to remove "harmful" Internet sites.

In the latest crackdown, the submissive Duma, or parliament, last week adopted new rules that make it possible for the Kremlin to fine or otherwise punish any non-governmental organization (NGO) that accepts foreign money and engages in "political activities" (definition left deliberately vague).

Kremlin internet bill 'signals growing repression of critics by Putin': Two months after Vladimir Putin once again assumed the post of Russian president, the long-feared crackdown on his critics appears to have begun. The internet bill due to be considered by parliament on Wednesday is, say activists, the latest sign of growing repression of civil freedom in Russia.

This is very concerning. I remember back in 2008 when Putin was going to try and be President for life. He was not alone. Leaders aligned with Russia were all trying to get permanent leadership so they could be at the helm of their prospective countries to take on then President Bush when his war mongering hit the point where Russia, the 135 non aligned Nations, Iran, and others were prepared to join forces and take him and our allies on.

I remember when Bush first met Putin and he said he shook his hand and looked him in the eye and saw a man of compassion, a man who was true to his word, and a man he could work with. I shuttered at Bush's stupidity. I looked at Putin and saw a man deceitful to the core who was not to be trusted period.

We were too pompous then and were pushing the world towards WW3 with our take it or leave it, my way or the highway, interference around the world. Putin was determined to head us off, to directly confront us when we were on Russia's front door trying to instigate war by installing the so called missile shield in Czechoslovakia and Poland, and return Russia to the role of a world leader.

Personally we blew it when Russia broke up and the Berlin wall came down. We were the world leader and had the perfect opportunity to be humble, show we were the leader, and bring the world together to proceed successfully through the 21st century. We egged on the likes of Vladimir Putin who understandably chaffed under our we are the boss do what we say take it or leave it, it your face tactics of Bush and Cheney.

Putin has taken their cue. Putin's goal is to stop the US and put an end to US hegemony. While supposedly supporting Democracy he is arresting all the leaders of the movement against him and harassing all its supporters. He is doing what he can to suppress their means of communication. I have heard in recent weeks that Russian aircraft have been found twice feeling out the borders of the United States in a reminder of the cold war.

Putin has taken the lead role in stopping the US from gaining influence in Syria. He has taken us on head on offering the Kremlin as an alternative for talks with both sides of the fight in Syria. They are currently on going with the opposition saying they have strong Russian ties "speaking in Russian" and would like to keep them.

Russia has absolutely no intention of letting her ties or her assets and influence go in Syria their last real grasp in the middle east. Putin as we long feared is going to be our Bane.

Syria: Assad regime starts to unravel, so goes the middle east

Syria: Assad regime starts to unravel: With the situation changing by the hour, the government's control over large parts of the country continued to unravel. The FSA said it had captured two border crossings between Syria and Turkey as well as one in Iraq. The regime still holds key cities, at least during the day, but it appears increasingly vulnerable to guerilla raids.

Diplomats revealed that Assad had phoned the head of the UN monitoring mission, General Robert Mood, pledging to implement Kofi Annan's peace plan shortly after Wednesday's devastating bomb attack in Damascus, which killed four senior members of his military-security command. Residents have reported that some banks were running out of cash, with queues for bread and other foodstuffs seen as Ramadan gets underway. In a further sign of regime erosion a Syrian general was reported to have fled to Turkey, bringing the number of fugitive generals there to 22.

The battle for Syria is a battle for the entire Middle East: Its fall will obviously transform Syria, a country that has lived under the boot-heel of that clan for four decades. But it will also radically affect the wider region. Syria, which borders Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey and Israel, does not keep itself to itself. As one former Obama official says: "Syria won't implode; it will explode." Put simply, the battle for Syria is a battle for the entire Middle East.

This is going to be a long tough fight because Iran will not allow a possible anti Iran regime change in Syria nor it seems will Russia and China. You would think that after Gaddafi's brutal death Bashar Al-Assad would take heed but he does not have to as China and Russia support his brutality to protect their interests and the old order.

Again: You know, I am thinking about all that is happening today in the United States and more pointedly around the entire world not just in North Africa and the Middle East and I am reminded of something we were told right after 9/11 and that was that this is a new volatile world we live in today and we must act accordingly. When I was a kid I learned "adapt, overcome, and move ahead successfully" We are not doing that, once again we have failed to take our own good advice.

This is not the 20th century. The times they are a changing and we must be smart enough to change with them or be trampled. WW 3 we do not want, it is not survivable for us or the planet with the awesome destruction of today's weapons. Just looking at the two telling links above I realized Russia and the United States are playing the same old power and control games instead of realizing this is a new world and like it or not we must adapt with it or destroy it.

Now China feels emboldened to play a role in pushing her desires on the "Arab Spring" too and this is all a recipe for disaster. The US can no longer stand by Israel blindly. Unless Israel realizes like it or not it is time for a 2 state solution to allow us to progress through the 21 century in this new world not the old one those in control are trying to hold on to.

Likewise it is wrong for Russia and China to embolden Syria and defend their Brutality in order to protect their selfish old interests. Like it or not we must let go. We the current powers are creating more problems not solving them. We must step back and let the baby be born. We can not have things the way we want. We must realize that instead of using weapons to try and have our way.

We must let the chips fall where they may then pick up what we can, adapt, overcome, and move forward successfully hopefully. The US is in trouble, Europe is in trouble, the Middle East is in trouble, the entire world is in trouble unless we wake up, stop trying to interfere with it, and help put together whatever is left.

That said, I thought it was our attack on Iraq that would be the start of the middle east breakdown now I am afraid it will be the Arab Spring or more pointedly Assad's Syrian winter. I still see a total civil war Sunni against Shiite erupting in the Middle East because Bush freed up Iran to instigate it on their end and they are. I still am concerned we will have a permanent presence in the Middle East but feel we will have to largely leave Iraq to her own demise. We will still be there but it looks like Yemen, and the Gulf of Aden will be the prime focus unless Iran gets something going between the US and Iran.

As you know, I talk about it often as I watch Bush's new Middle East (dis)order progress. He ignored Afghanistan so he could use the patriot acts powers to divert from Afghanistan to attack Iraq using the excuse of unseating Saddam so he could get in the Middle East to help Israel establish a buffer zone and establish a new middle east (dis) order or so Israel and Cheney thought. Bush at Cheney's urging made an abrupt shift in policy towards Syria, a shift that has now brought the entire Mideast region to the brink of war and chaos. Much worse than the hell on earth they created for Iraq. Did you ever read A clean Break a 2003 Executive intelligence Review that tells the truth as to our diabolical plans

That plan was put together in 1996 for Israel. They were just waiting for an idiot to come along so they could implement their plan for the Middle East. Along came the life long follower and life long alcoholic loser Georgie Bush. I wish I could say the rest is History but this is still barely beginning and just beginning to take shape. All Bush did by ignoring Afghanistan and attacking Iraq was to guarantee a loss of everything and a complete Middle East and Asian Breakdown.

We freed Iran up to pursue her version of new middle East order by interfering wherever she could while Bush was doing the same thing with his Middle East Democratization program. I think you can see how successful Bush and Cheney were with chaos creating Middle East Democracy program but you are barely seeing the results they created in Iran.

The goal absolutely is to be the country who decides which direction the new Middle East (dis)order will take. Bush started it by attacking Iraq to get into the middle east to destabilize it and start the new middle east order the idiot said God told him to do now it will be up to Iran and Saudi Arabia at least up front fight it out whether this goes the Iranian Shiite way or the Saudi Arabian Sunni way and do not forget Israel!

Israel accuses Iran of nuclear deception, they should know, they are the experts!

Israel accuses Iran of nuclear deception: Renewing its criticism of Iran's atomic agenda, Israel's delegate to the International Atomic Energy Agency accused Tehran on Wednesday of working secretly on nuclear weapons while pretending it does not want such arms, under a strategy of "deception, defiance and concealment."

Iran dismisses IAEA and international suspicions that it may have worked covertly on nuclear weapons and insists it has no interest in possessing such arms, saying its disputed uranium enrichment program is geared only toward generating nuclear fuel.

Iran vs. Israel: Death or destruction? Destruction period!

Iran vs. Israel: Can Israel and Iran be expected to work toward collective security measures, or are they unable to overcome their deeply engrained theocratic rivalry? By Laurelle Atkinson. Yeah let Iran wipe Israel off the map period end of discussion as far as Iran is concerned!

I reiterate there will never be peace in the Middle East, period! Only the UN wants it, Israel wants it her way and Iran/Syria want Israel obliterated, period. Israel and Iran have long been in preparation for this confrontation. As you know, when asked by a journalist how he felt upon returning to Iran in 1979 after 15 years in exile. Khomeini’s curt, one-word reply was “nothing” Whoa! From day one of his return to Iran Khomeini expressed no love for Iran only a love of the atom bomb. The drive even then was to possess a nuclear weapon though that desire is still denied until Iran can get their hands on one.

I have tried to give Iran the benefit of the doubt when they say their nuclear desires are peaceful knowing they could use nuclear power as an energy source for their growing population. I have always asserted that perceived need could be cover for the real goal of developing a nuclear weapon.

The nuclear program of Iran was launched in the 1950s with the help of the United States as part of the Atoms for Peace program.[1] The support, encouragement and participation of the United States and Western European governments in Iran's nuclear program continued until the 1979 Islamic revolution that toppled the Shah of Iran. We are so concerned about Pakistan and Iran today in regard to nuclear abilities and nuclear weapons and security. I was blown away to find out that we built the first nuclear Reactors in both Iran and Pakistan. Nuclear program of Iran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia atoms for peace

I would have to assume this was after we overthrew the democratically elected President of Iran Mohammad Mosaddeq to install our ruthless puppet the Shah of Iran. We built and supplied Iran's first reactor because we thought we were in control. What the hell is wrong with us? That makes us personally responsible for the 1979 Revolution in Iran, the capture of our hostages, the disaster in the desert after a failed attempt to rescue them, the rise of the Revolutionary Guard, the protesters dilemma, the nuclear issue in Iran today, everything!

You know, I have long said that Iran’s civilian nuclear program is a cover for their nuclear weapons program. Now I see that Arab leaders feel the same way. They fear a nuclear arms race and I can only conclude that knowing how far along Iran is and how they feel that they are hedging their bets and it is already under way clandestinely.

On the other side there is Israel! I realized a long time ago that Israel is the world's chief war monger and we seem to do their bidding and fighting. If they get into a war with Iran we will end up coming to their rescue regardless of what they do or what Hillary says and that is sad! We should in fact take care of Jewish American's and American's and our interests in Israel and otherwise tell them in no uncertain terms they are on their own if they continue to instigate war not peace and expecting us to come to their rescue.

There is a US law that prohibits the support of countries that break the treaty in question. Vanunu's information led foreign experts to conclude that Israel had produced fissile material for as many as 200 atomic warheads thus warning other Nation's of Israel's military might. It was okay for Israel why the hypocrisy? Remember Mordechai Vanunu whistle blower of Israel's clandestine nuclear program? Uzi Eilam former head of Israel's Atomic Energy Commission said Mordechai Vanunu did Israel a favor after revealing information about an illegal nuclear program at Israel's Dimona reactor. His information proved that Israel had broken the 1968 treaty on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

Vanunu's information led foreign experts to conclude that Israel had produced fissile material for as many as 200 atomic warheads thus warning other Nation's of Israel's military might. It was okay for Israel why the hypocrisy? Remember this discussion? The US will pay the price for Israel and US nuclear lies and hypocrisy after Israel attacks!

I must admit Israel's hypocrisy and lies are a plan I have discussed often and I have to disagree with Eliam's final assertion. He says an attack on Iran's nuclear program would be counter productive. I beg to differ! The General hit the nail on the head though and does not know it. I have long asserted that Israel would attack Iran's nuclear interests and we would come to her rescue.

That is a fact that is why I find his final statement troubling and prophetic. He correctly said One strike is not practical. In order to delay the Iranian program for three to four years one needs an armada of aircraft, which only a super-power can provide. Only America can do it. Bingo! You know from numerous discussions here that Iran is involved in every Middle Eastern country not just Yemen, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia where they have corrupted elections for Shiite interests in Iraq, backing rebels in Yemen, and instigating attacks on Saudi oil fields. Bush freed Iran to instigate far and wide and they are.

Israel is not going to back down. When all is said and done they know the US will be there for them. It is time for Iran to put up or shut up! I am sure the US plans to come to Israel's rescue and do it largely from the Gulf with numerous carrier fighter groups and they are finished with their 30000 pound bunker buster behemoth to take out underground facilities. Both sides are locked and loaded and Syria is happening at the same time. That is no accident, all we can hope for at this time is to minimize these disasters as much as possible and keep them from turning into WW3.
